Saw us some Bears in Ptown and did a few touristy things: climbed to the top of the Pilgrim Monument, visited the Museum, rode out to the National Seashore to see the old Lifesaving Station. Lots of fun and exercise.
While at the museum we learned the original houses and town were at the end of Long Point. In the 1850s they were floated across to the current town. Each of those houses has a plaque on the front so we went to find them and rode through a beautiful part of town.
Sailing from Ptown up to Glosta we passed through a prime fishing area with humans and
humpback whales catching their fill. (Obviously need a real camera.)
Gloucester (Glosta) is a big fishing town that's a bit down on its luck due to the federal fishing bans and limits. In addition it had an "artist colony" vibe so the town is re-branding itself and attracting tourists with restaurants and galleries and shops.

Before leaving on our overnight sail to Maine, we filled the diesel tanks at the fuel barge. The other customer was a fishing boat buying 3000 gallons! KaChing!
And now, on to Maine...
Artist colony, lobster rolls, butter, whales... sounds like my kind of town!! Glad you guys are having a cool adventure!
ReplyDeleteAlso TJ- I love the gift you sent. Erica and I had a good laugh then put it on the mantel in case of emergency use. Hopefully it won't ever have to be used....hehe
